40B Forum, September 22, 7 p.m.
A petition to abolish Chapter 40B of the State Law is being circulated. The purpose of Chapter 40B is to promote affordable housing. Realizing that individuals might be asked to sign the petition, this is a good time to learn more about the 40B law and alternatives. To provide more information for everyone, the League with the help of the Westford Conservation Trust will be hosting a forum on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Library, starting at 7 PM. This will an opportunity to hear about the issues from the petitioners (The Coalition to Abolish Chapter 40B) and also the Massachusetts Slow Growth Initiative. Our State Representative, James Arciero will be present, along with a number of Westford experts on these issues.
The League of Women Voters of Westford has not taken a position on this petition. We hope you can attend the forum to find out more about the pros and cons of Chapter 40B. It will be taped and will be rebroadcast on Westford CAT so check their listings for times.
