\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t @ \t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\r\n\r\n\rThe Westford League is holding its Annual Meeting in person at the Westford Museum, 2 Boston Road, on Wednesday, June 7 at 7 p.m.<\/strong> The League welcomes all to the meeting, where we\u2019ll have some time to socialize before starting the business meeting. The new model train exhibit at the Museum can also be viewed! At our meeting, we will review our accomplishments over the past year, choose the League leadership team, and decide on activities for the coming year. The Annual Meeting Guide will be emailed to our members soon. The meeting is a great opportunity for members to influence what policy and community issues the League will focus on.\r\n\r\nOur bylaws require that the Steering Committee\u2019s recommended program and the Nominating Committee\u2019s slate of Steering Committee nominees be sent to our members prior to the Annual Meeting. The slate of Steering Committee nominees are Lynn Cohen, Vicky Geary, Erika Kohl, Gloria Miller, and Mary Anne Seraphin.\r\n\r\nThe recommended program is:\r\n\r\nContinue presenting our critical and traditional League events and activities:\r\nCandidates\u2019 Night in Spring 2024\r\nVoters\u2019 Guide in Spring 2024\r\nTown Meeting Previews in Fall 2023 and Spring 2024\r\nPublicizing elections and Town Meetings with lawn signs\r\nMonthly League Civic Socials\r\nAdvocate that all in-person public meetings of town boards and committees allow members of the public to participate remotely.\r\nAdvocate that all town boards and committees post meeting summaries as soon as possible after their meetings similar to the Select Board\u2019s Actions Taken agendas.\r\nAdvocate that the webpage for every town board\/committee on the town\u2019s website include an email address that forwards to every member of the board\/committee or provide another way for residents to contact the board members without having to use their individual addresses. This includes publicizing the process for how to contact town boards and committees and what happens to those emails. Include education about emails becoming part of the public record and encourage committees to acknowledge all written communication.\r\nInvestigate ways to register voters at WA and Nashoba Tech. Run registration drives before the March 5th presidential primaries.\r\nWork with the Town Clerk to promote recruitment of poll workers.\r\nFollow up on our survey of polling place accessibility with the Commission on Disability.\r\nContinue to advocate for a robust voting rights bill at the State level that includes same-day voter registration.\r\nExplore working with WestfordCAT to combine our Voters\u2019 Guide with their \u201cGuide to the Town Election Ballot.\u201d\r\nFollow-up with Derek Parker at Blanchard Middle School about working with his students on their civics projects.\r\nWork with the Westford Museum to begin planning for the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution in 2025 and the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026.\r\nExplore ways to promote youth involvement in the local League such as future educational events and\/or reviving the project to create video interviews with town committee chairs to explain what the committees do.\r\nCreate a scholarship to be awarded to one or more graduating seniors at Westford Academy and\/or Nashoba Tech to reward active civic engagement.\r\nRevise and reprint \u201cA Guide to Running for Local Office in Westford\u201d and \u201cA Guide to Town Meeting in Westford.\u201d\r\n\r\nTo register for the Annual Meeting, Click Here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.\n\r\n\r\t
