Specialized Energy Code Information Session on Feb. 6

The town is sponsoring an information session about the Specialized Energy Code, both in person and via Zoom, featuring representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) as well as town staff and members of the Clean Energy and Sustainability Committee.

These experts will present information and answer questions about the proposed Annual Town Meeting warrant article that asks Town Meeting to adopt the Specialized Energy Code “for the purpose of regulating the design and construction of buildings for the effective use of energy and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.”

The CEASC has asked the Select Board to co-sponsor this warrant article for the March 22nd Annual Town Meeting. The proposed new regulations will place additional requirements on new construction of residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal buildings.

The hybrid meeting will be in the Millennium Building, 23 Depot Street (behind Abbot School). Register Here to participate remotely.

You can also submit a question or comment online.

Both the town’s website and the state’s FAQ webpage have extensive information about the Specialized code
